Day - 1

Arrive in Delhi

Arrive at Delhi International Airport. After a traditional Swagat (Welcome), our representative will meet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Delhi is a vibrant blend of ancient heritage and modern culture. It has been the seat of power for many dynasties due to its strategic location. Mythological references connect it to Indraprastha, the capital of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, believed to date back to 5000 BC.

Over centuries, Delhi was shaped by rulers like Qutub-ud-din Aibak, Alauddin Khilji, Tughlaqs, Humayun, and Shah Jahan, who built the famous walled city of Shahjahanabad.
In the early 20th century, Sir Edwin Lutyens designed much of New Delhi with wide roads, grand buildings, and green avenues during British rule.

Day - 2

Delhi – Bagdogra (By Flight) → Drive to Darjeeling (110 km / 3 hrs)

Today, board a flight to Bagdogra. Upon arrival, drive to Darjeeling, famously known as the Queen of India’s Hill Stations. Its Victorian charm, cool weather, and endless tea gardens make it one of India’s most beautiful destinations.

Day - 3

Darjeeling Sightseeing

Early morning visit Tiger Hill to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Everest, and other Himalayan peaks.

On your way back, visit Ghoom, a traditional Tibetan village known for its misty atmosphere and the famous Yiga Choeling Monastery, where monks play ancient musical instruments like the long Gyeling pipes.
Then visit the Buddhist monasteries of Chholing and Darli.

After some rest:

Enjoy a ride on the UNESCO-recognized Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train)
Visit the famous Mountaineering Institute, established by Tenzing Norgay, the first man to climb Mt. Everest with Edmund Hillary
Visit Tibetan Handicraft Centre
Explore the lush Tea Gardens

In the evening, visit Observatory Hill, a sacred spot where both Hindus and Buddhists worship today.

Day - 4

Darjeeling – Gangtok (95 km / 3 hrs)

Drive to Gangtok, the dreamy capital of Sikkim surrounded by rice fields, fast-flowing rivers, and snow-capped mountains. It was a small village until the 1840 construction of the Enchey Monastery, which made it a major pilgrimage site and an important stop for trade between Tibet and British India.

Visit the Research Institute of Tibetology, a major center of Buddhist philosophy and Tibetan culture
Explore rare manuscripts, gold-written scriptures, old thanka paintings, and around 30,000 books

Day - 5

Gangtok Excursion – Tsomgo Lake, Chorten & Rumtek

Tsomgo Lake (Tsongo Lake)

A sacred glacial lake, worshipped by locals and a paradise for bird lovers. Brahminy Ducks and several migratory birds can be spotted here.

Do Drul Chorten

Visit two beautiful stupas built to signify the victory of good over evil. These stupas honor Thrulshik Rinpoche, a highly respected Buddhist scholar.

Rumtek Monastery

Drive through scenic rice terraces to reach Rumtek, the main monastery of the Kagyupa (Black Hat) sect. Built in 1959 by the 16th Karmapa, it is a replica of Tsurphu Monastery in Tibet.

Himalayan Zoological Park (Bulbuley) — home to red pandas, barking deer, and Himalayan black bears
Government Institute of Cottage Industries (GICI) — showcasing Sikkimese crafts, Tibetan carpets, carved choktse tables
Lal Bazaar — famous local market

Day - 6

Gangtok – Excursion to Phodang Monastery (30 km each way)

Today, visit Phodang Monastery, reconstructed to preserve its old charm. It is known for its annual festival held on the 28th & 29th day of the 10th lunar month. Colorful religious dances performed during this festival are the main attraction.

Day - 7

Gangtok – Rumtek (24 km / 1 hr)

Drive to Rumtek, also known as the Dharmachakra Centre. Originally built in 1740 by the 9th Karmapa, Rumtek served as the seat of the Karma Kagyu lineage.

When the 16th Karmapa arrived in 1959 after fleeing Tibet, he rebuilt it because the location was spiritually favorable—surrounded by mountains, streams, and snow peaks.

Day - 8

Rumtek – Kalimpong

Drive to Kalimpong, a beautiful hill town with views of snow-capped mountains and a blend of Buddhist, Hindu, and Christian cultures. Kalimpong was once a major wool-trading center between Tibet and India.

Kalimpong Sightseeing

Visit:

Thongsa Gompa (Bhutanese Monastery) — oldest monastery (1692)
Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brang Gompa at Durpin Hill — famous for Tibetan paintings
Tharpa Choeling Monastery — Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect
Dr. Graham’s Home — historic school for children of tea garden workers
Visit local flower nurseries

Overnight in Kalimpong (B, D)

Day - 10

Kalimpong – Bagdogra (75 km / 2 hrs) → Delhi (By Flight)

Drive to Bagdogra Airport while enjoying scenic views along the Teesta River.
Board your flight to Delhi. On arrival, our representative will assist with transfer to the hotel.
